2023/2024 ODI Fellowship Scheme for Young Professionals

The ODI Fellowship Scheme is a professional development program that presents young professionals from around the world with the unique opportunity to work with the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in London for a duration of about two (2) years. The program aims to offer fellows valuable experience in development policy, research, and analysis, and to support the ODI’s work in addressing global development challenges. 2023/2024 ODI Fellowship Scheme for Young Professionals

The fellowship is available to individuals aged 30 or under who possess a postgraduate degree in economics, statistics, or a related field, and who have a keen interest in development issues. Fellows are generally recruited from developing countries, although candidates from developed countries are also considered if they hold a strong interest in development issues and relevant experience. Fellowships are determined primarily by the requirements of the scheme’s partner governments. The unending demand from governments for ODI fellows, as well as the level of responsibility designated to them, is a testament to the respect the scheme has earned over the 59 years since it was founded.

The ODI Fellowship Scheme offers early-career economists and statisticians the opportunity to work as public sector civil servants on a two-year contract in low- and middle-income countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the Western Balkans. ODI Fellows are typically employed as local civil servants reporting to local managers. Fellows work in a scope of institutions from finance and planning ministries to ministries of health and education, as well as central banks, statistics offices, and regulatory bodies.
