Eligibility and Requirements

To apply for the CERN Openlab Summer Student Programme, you must meet the following requirements:

• Student Status: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program (not PhD), with a strong focus on IT, computer science, or a related field. You should have completed at least three years of study by the summer of 2025.
• Academic Registration: You must remain a registered student during the internship. If you graduate in May 2025, you’re still eligible to apply.
• First-Time CERN Applicant: You should not have previously worked at CERN for more than three months under any employment or student status.
• Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is essential.

Benefits and Compensation

As a CERN Openlab Summer Student, you’ll receive the following benefits:

• Nine-Week Contract: Participate in a 9-week internship working on a cutting-edge IT project.
• Daily Allowance: Receive a stipend of 93 CHF per calendar day (net of tax) to support your accommodation and meals.
• Travel Allowance: Get assistance for travel expenses from your home to Geneva, provided as a lump sum at the end of the program.
• Health Insurance Coverage: CERN provides a comprehensive health insurance plan (deduction included in the daily allowance).
• Accommodation Support: Assistance in finding housing at CERN or nearby.
• Possible start dates: Monday, June 23, or June 30, 2025 (with some flexibility).
