The JIAS Writing Fellowships 2024 for Creative Writers
The JIAS Writing Fellowships 2024 for Creative Writers is an international program designed to develop the work of established and emerging writers from around the world.
From the beginning of February to the end of May every year, the Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study hosts a group of amazing creative writers and scholars from diverse disciplines as Writing Fellows. Every Writing Fellow concentrates on his/her individual project while benefiting from interacting with other Writing Fellows and from the community of scholars and writers from the universities in Johannesburg and Gauteng in general. The program will support up to ten Fellows each year, selected from a diverse range of national and cultural backgrounds, with each recipient receiving a fellowship to pursue their creative writing projects.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR THE JIAS WRITING FELLOWSHIPS 2024
- Fellowships are open to any field of expertise, including novelists writing in indigenous languages.
- Previous fellows have included academics, novelists, scientists, poets, playwrights, independent researchers, and journalists.
MERITS
The fellowship offers a stipend to cover living costs, allowing writers from various economic backgrounds to devote a year to their creative writing.
