2023 MSIF Du Pré Grants for Multiple Sclerosis Researchers from Advancing Countries
The Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) Du Pré Grants are granted to researchers from advancing countries who are working in the field of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The main aim of the grant is to promote and support research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of MS and also encourage cross-fertilization of skills through collaborative research projects. Two of the annual awards are supported by Stichting MS Research (the Dutch MS Research Foundation). The grant was named after the late Professor Charles Du Pré, a pioneer in MS research, and is planned to aid researchers from advancing countries obtain access to the latest research techniques and methodologies in order to grow their work in the field. 2023 MSIF Du Pré Grants for Multiple Sclerosis Researchers from Advancing Countries
The MSIF Du Pré Grants are available to researchers who are either working currently or intend to work in a country categorized as a low-income, lower-middle-income or upper-middle-income economy by the World Bank. The grant offers financing of up to 6,000 GBP to cover travel and living expenses for a duration of up to six months, during which time the recipient will be based at a research institution outside of their home country.

Eligibility for the 2023 MSIF Du Pré Grants for Multiple Sclerosis Researchers:
All candidates must:
- Be educated to post-graduate level (at least MSc, but preferably PhD/MD) in an area relevant to multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Be citizens of a low- or middle-income country (all countries with a low, lower-middle, or upper-middle income as defined by the World Bank)
- Focus their research proposal on an area relevant to multiple sclerosis
Candidates must also be in one of the following situations:
- Working or studying in a low- or middle-income country (all countries with a low, lower-middle, or upper-middle income as defined by the World Bank) at the time of nomination
- Working or studying in another country on a project which started within the six months prior to nomination.
- Studying in another country on a project supported by an MS International Federation grant.

Value of Research: Each grant is likely to be between UK £2,000 and £4,000, to a maximum of £5,000. The funds are intended to go towards travel and living costs or to top up an existing grant to extend a visit.
Duration of Research: Visits generally last between two and six months.
Method of Application:
- Identify your project and field of interest.
- Contact and agree to project proposal with a host (project supervisor in a lab or clinic).
- If you do not have a host, contact the research team for advice as soon as possible.
- Applicant completes all sections of the online application form.
- After the applicant submits, the Host is contacted to submit a supporting statement using the same application form
- Applicant asks the two referees to send their reference letters to research{/at)}msif{.dot/}org well before the 30 June deadline
