The scholarship program is available to East African citizens and residents who have a first-class or upper-second-class degree and who may have been accepted into one of the eligible Masters programs at the University of Edinburgh. Eligible Masters programs possess various courses in various fields, including renewable energy, global health, and sustainable development. The scholarship covers tuition fees, a stipend for living expenses, and travel expenses to and from the UK. Also, the scholarship gives funds for a research project or dissertation related to the student’s field of study.
Eligibility for The 2023 East African Masters Scholarship:
- The opportunities are available to students born and working in East Africa who would like to study towards the Master of Family Medicine online distance learning programme offered by the University of Edinburgh commencing in September 2023.

Method of Application: Please, you are to kindly submit a 500 – 800-word summary of your reasons for applying for the master’s program and your CV as well. While considering applications, we will look for applicants who are currently practicing medicine and can show that they have the following:
- The potential to contribute to national and local policy; taking forward a new way of providing equitable healthcare that goes some way to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals for the future.
- A vision for improving the way that healthcare is delivered and who look to shape global health policy through the WHO agenda for more equitable and primary health-led care.
