The 2023 Muhammad Sanusi II SDG Challenge (Cohort 3) for African Teachers is a prestigious initiative that seeks to elevate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by empowering and identifying excellent teachers around Africa who are presently making influential contributions towards achieving these goals in their communities. The challenge is named after Muhammad Sanusi II, the former Emir of Kano in Nigeria and an advocate for education and sustainable development. The initiative is organized by the Muhammad Sanusi II Foundation in alliance with the African Development Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, and other partners.
The main objective of this challenge is to prepare and empower teachers in advancing innovative community projects focusing on SDG 4 – Quality Education, and SDG 5 – Gender Equality.

Eligibility for the 2023 Muhammad Sanusi II SDG Challenge (Cohort 3) For African Teachers
This challenge is available to;
- Practicing teachers based anywhere in sub-Saharan Africa
- Any community project run by a teacher(s) that enhances learning. Our aim is to catalyze a wide variety of projects – both small projects, as well as those with the potential to scale.

Award Value: In the current phase of the Challenge – The MSII Incubator – participants will be awarded up to $2,000 USD to enable their innovative educational projects. At the end of the Incubator, you’ll also have the opportunity to pitch your project for a chance to win up to $10,000 USD and access to our exclusive Accelerator Program.
