The 2023 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition for Nigerian Senior Secondary Students
The UBA Foundation National Essay Competition is an annual competition open to all senior secondary school students in Nigeria. The competition aims to promote Nigerian students to think critically and write creatively about ideas that can be leveraged to solve local challenges.

The UBA National Essay Competition, targeted at senior secondary students in Nigeria, is arranged annually, as part of UBA Foundation’s education initiative which aims to enhance the reading culture and enhance healthy and intellectual competition amongst secondary school students in Nigeria and across Africa.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
- Must be a Nigerian Senior Secondary school student
- Must submit a passport photograph
- Must submit a scanned copy of a means of identification (birth certificate, National ID, or passport)
AWARDS
- The first prize for the UBA National Essay Competition is a N5 million educational grant to any African University of their choice,
- The second prize is a N3 million educational grant to any African University and
- The third prizes is N2.5 million in educational grants to African Universities.
PROCEDURES FOR APPLICATION
- Applicants must upload a scanned copy of their original birth certificates or international passport data page.
- Applicants must upload a handwritten essay (not more than 750 words) on the portal.
