Queen Mary University of London (QMUL, or informally QM, and previously Queen Mary and Westfield College) is a public research university in Mile End, East London, England. It is a member institution of the federal University of London. For 2021–22, Queen Mary had a turnover of £625.7 million including £122.9 million from research grants and contracts, with an expenditure of £623.4 million. Queen Mary has produced many notable alumni in various fields of work and study around the world with several alumni having become notable leaders in their respective fields including politics, as heads of state, science, academia, law, history, business, technology, and diplomacy.  Notable alumni include Ronald Ross, who discovered the origin and cure for malaria, Davidson Nicol, who discovered the breakdown of insulin in the human body, British politician Peter Hain, and Professor Andrew Pollard, the chief investigator of the Oxford–AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Eligibility for the 2023 DeepMind Masters Scholarship:

The applicants must meet all the given criteria:

  • The bursaries are for female and/or black students as these students are currently underrepresented in these areas of study
  • Be a UK, EU, or International student
  • Identify as female or have one of the following categories of ethnicity: Black African; Black Caribbean; Black Other; Mixed – White and Black Caribbean; Mixed – White and Black African; or another mixed background (to include Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Other).
  • Have a confirmed offer to study on one of the following programmes in September 2023: an MSc in Artificial Intelligence (Full Time), an MSc in Computer Science (FT), MSc in Machine Learning for Visual Data Analytics (FT), an MSc in Computer Games (FT) at Queen Mary University of London.

Value of Award: Each DeepMind Scholarship will cover the cost of tuition fees, £12,250 (International fees – £28,950), a living allowance of £15,480, an annual £2,200 travel scholarship, and a one-off equipment grant of £1,700.
