British Council & Microsoft Creative Economy Programme for African Entrepreneurs 2023

Young African entrepreneurs are called forth once again for the British Council & Microsoft Creative Economy Programme for African Entrepreneurs 2023. The programme is like a reminder to everybody that there are still Young,Talented and knowledgeable youths out there with the ideas capable enough to startup a really satiable and successful business. The British Council in partnership with Microsoft has launched a new programme to help young African entrepreneurs in the creative economy sector shape the future of the continent. Creative Lounge is the delivery partner in Zimbabwe. Young people aged 18 – 35 years are encouraged to take part in the face-to-face interactive workshops holding in Zimbabwe and online for rest of Sub-Saharan Africa. The programme plans to provide innovative business management knowledge for creative entrepreneurs at various levels from beginner to advanced levels and opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing. The upcoming two (2) day workshops are on CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP.

Programme modules:

Social Impact through Creative Entrepreneurship

Provide participants with an understanding of impact entrepreneurship, social innovation and factors to consider in pivoting enterprises to achieve social impact.

Topic 1: Introduction to ‘Impact Entrepreneurship’.
Topic 2: Introduction to Impact Economy – balancing profit with impact.
Topic 3: Understanding Social Innovation (including human-centred design).
Topic 4: Factors to consider in pivoting your enterprise to achieve social impact.
Topic 5: Impact Entrepreneurship of the 21st Century: The role of technology.
Topic 6: Inclusion, Sustainability and Values and Ethics.
Topic 7: Types of financing for Impact Enterprises and how to attract them.

Creative Economy Policy

This intermediate course provides relevant insights for policy stakeholders in relation to the creative economy.

Topic 1: Refresher on Introduction to Policy Making.
Topic 2: Understanding the Creative Economy.
Topic 3: The role of the creative economy in sustainable development.
Topic 4: Approaches to Creative Economy Policy.
Topic 5: Steps to consider for the development or strengthening of the creative economy.

Location

Young people aged 18 – 35 years are encouraged to apply or take part in the face-to-face interactive workshops to be held in Zimbabwe and online for the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Benefits:

Participants will receive a certificate as proof of their accomplishment after finishing the programme.
With the certificate, participants will be able to apply for ongoing support via coaching, incubation, mentoring and acceleration through our larger work in participating nations.
